{"id":4757,"date":"2015-05-19T17:04:29","date_gmt":"2015-05-19T14:04:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mummila.net\/kommentit\/?p=4757"},"modified":"2015-05-19T17:04:49","modified_gmt":"2015-05-19T14:04:49","slug":"i-think-the-things-you-mention-are-just-not-considered-issues-to-be-addressed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mummila.net\/kommentit\/2015\/05\/19\/i-think-the-things-you-mention-are-just-not-considered-issues-to-be-addressed\/","title":{"rendered":"I think the things you mention are just not considered issues to be addressed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Not speaking for The Chromium Projects or anyone, but I think the things you mention are just not considered issues to be addressed in the project. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chromium.org\/\">The Chromium Projects<\/a> are, by their own words, &#8221;open-source&#8221;, which by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gnu.org\/philosophy\/free-software-for-freedom.html\">FSF&#8217;s definition<\/a> (as <a href=\"http:\/\/trisquel.info\/en\/forum\/isnt-chromium-browser-opensource#comment-59073\">also mentioned in one of the threads you linked to<\/a>) is different from free software. Barring any actual non-free licensing issues, any party with an interest to do so should, in my understanding, be able to branch a new project from Chromium and address those issues, turning their branched codebase into what the FSF and Trisquel would then consider free enough to qualify.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, these aren&#8217;t issues to be fixed &#8221;by Chromium&#8221;, but by parties with an interest to have them fixed.
