What&#8217;s with the blackout since then? Did they run into some previously undetected technical problems with it? Or was the whole thing just a slightly mis-timed April fools joke (note the timestamp on the press release)?<\/p>\n<p>(I only just read about the whole concept on some <a href=\"http:\/\/rechargeable-lithium-ion-battery.blogspot.com\/\">obscure blog<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shoutwire.com\/default.aspx?p=comments&amp;id=65225\">referred to by Shoutwire<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>Or maybe I&#8217;m just a little too early in my ponderings: <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lithium_ion_battery#New_technology\">Wikipedia<\/a> tells me <a href=\"http:\/\/pages.citebite.com\/h1e6l1i1j4ogy\">commercial applications are to be expected in 2006 or early 2007<\/a> although the 2005 sources anticipated products for 2006 already.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s been two years since Toshiba announced a lithium-ion battery capable of being recharged in 60 seconds.
