Jason: As with Davide, it was indicator-power that was missing here. The greeter log didn’t show that though, it claimed libdatetime.so was missing even though indicator-datetime is in fact installed.
Emanuele: You’ll need to go through some hoops via the Overview page linked to on top of this report, until you get to https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/+source/unity-greeter/0.2.0-0ubuntu4 where you need to pick the build for your architecture. Use dpkg –install to install the .deb file. Good luck!
I can’t tell if you can see it from the Apport-attached files, so I’ll add that I’m running Unity 2D here.
With both client and the server upgraded to Synergy 1.4.5 Beta from Synergy’s download page, the crash no longer occurs.
This is on Unity 2D and Bug #780803 is at least tangentially related. Synergyc is connected to server through an ssh tunnel (which I set up according to http://ur1.ca/7g6o9#), with client positioned left of the server.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Bring mouse cursor from server screen to client screen.
2. Press Super on server keyboard.
3. Bring mouse cursor back to server screen.
What happens:
Synergyc dies with a segfault:
segfault at 8b0a75c8 ip 0062fbf2 sp bff05108 error 4 in libstdc++.so.6.0.16[5d8000+d8000]
(Also, pressing Super at step 2 brings up launcher on server, not on client – that’s probably Bug #780803 manifesting on U2D.)
Just a note that this no longer happens now that I’m running 12.04 with Unity; Unity’s run dialog expands tilde correctly. Still broken in Gnome panel 3.2.0 though.
For me the ’dbusproxy != NULL’ problem came up with some of The GIMP’s filters. After I uninstalled Unity and all the packages it had pulled (probably from the PPA), the error went away. Hope this helps some of you too.
Sorry, meant my other right, the left panel in the above, of course. :)
This affects me too, if by the ”reloading” Jorge means that the top and right panels are stuck in an endless loop of disappearing and reappearing. Doesn’t respond to mouse clicks either; no other way to exit than to switch to another VT and killall gnome-session.
I created a new test user to make sure it’s nothing in my settings and he’s affected too.
