You’re right, I misinterpreted the mention of Ogg streams in the opening post. Sorry about that.
I always used VLC as external player together with the Ogg stream and since they are delivered by OxyRadio things just work like a charm. There is no problem to skip to any position in a song.
In VLC they indeed seem to be seekable. I’ve been using Totem until now, and with it the latest changes really did make the streams unseekable there. So something has changed, but it affects seekability depending on the app’s support for it. Apparently Totem’s streaming support is more limited than VLC’s.
It seems the Ogg streams (m3u, xspf) are no longer seekable, i.e. it isn’t possible to skip forward or backward in playing time. This makes it somewhat cumbersome to quickly get a feel for new tracks, to know which albums are worth downloading. I’ve switched to MP3 streaming for the time being, since they are still seekable, but I hope that seeking returns to Ogg streams as well at some point, as I otherwise prefer them.

I’m running a Lucid desktop, but with UNE as the interface.
In UNIX, the tilde character ~ usually refers to the user’s home directory. However, the run dialog doesn’t seem to support this.
Steps to reproduce:
1. In a terminal:
$ echo ”hello” > ~/foo
$ cat ~/foo
hello
2. Press Alt+F2 to bring up the run dialog. Enter:
gedit ~/foo
Expected result: have ~/foo open in gedit with the content ”hello”.
Actual result: a file called foo opens, but it’s empty and obviously not the one created. From gedit’s title I’m guessing the run dialog passes ~ as the name of a directory residing within the actual ~, user’s home.
Blogaamista ei tarvitse lopettaa kokonaan, riittää kun sulkee kommentoinnin eikä käytä kävijälaskureita, jotka näyttävät muualta tulijoiden välittäjät. Jos nämä kaksi kanavaa ovat kiinni, niihin ahdistaviin vastanäkemyksiin törmääminen on jo paljon epätodennäköisempää. Siinä ei ainakaan minun mielestäni ole mitään hävettävää, kun on kyse itsesuojelusta. Varsinaista keskusteluahan ei tietysti silloin myöskään pääse syntymään, mutta yksisuuntainenkin kanava on aina parempi kuin ei kanavaa laisinkaan.
Ennen tuota selitystä ajattelin, että olet oppinut, kuinka omistajaltaan polkupyörän käsistä riistävä varas torjutaan. Kyllä sellainenkin apinasta kävisi.
Lollasin. Ei mahtaisi Walt-setä katsoa hyvällä hahmojensa näitä seikkailuja. (Ja olisikin mielenkiintoista nähdä kuinka juridiikkaa sovellettaisiin uniin.)
Esteettisesti miellyttävää, käytännöllistä ja kaikin puolin järkevää — ei tulla ikinä näkemään toteutettuna tässä maassa.
