I’m also trying to utilize the enclosure with an old Green drive, but it turns out the white label drive that came with the Elements has a slightly different design on the outside. Here’s the newer design and here’s the old one: as you can see, the corners on the Green are much thicker so that the rubber feet designed for the slimmer-ended white label drive won’t fit, at least not without modification.

My new WD100EMAZ (from an Elements enclosure) produced the same warning. Must be something that WD do with these at the factory. I had yet to write anything to the drive, and I was going to repartition it anyway, so I just created a new GPT.

It’ll be a blast one day when they ship such drives only to find out that the VCD image was infected with a virus. Good luck rescuing your rep after a simple ’ditch the CD’ becomes a 23 step procedure only your neighborhood geek knows how to execute properly.
