From my few dealings with JWs some years back, what struck me as ingenious in the GB’s strategy was precisely how they hid themselves in the shadows, because that directly helped to support the illusion of their word (in magazines etc.) being the word of Jehovah. It blinded the congregation from seeing that they’re ”worshipping” (i.e. putting their effort to) not a god, but just an organization led by this bunch of elderly guys in the American headquarters. It’s interesting to hear that the GB have apparently now abandoned this strategy for whatever reason. I agree with you that this is a good thing; they exposing themselves like this should help to open the eyes of more Witnesses to the very worldly ways the organization actually works.
For the ’Incorrect padding’ issue, Bug #1012358. (Leaving this as non-duplicate, since the reporter has other ’damaged’ errors besides that one.)
That one-sided smirk at 0:50… perfect!
The thought of doing this has always terrified me. It’s all just rock, and I’d be scraping away much of the fossil while leaving much of the matrix unscraped, and the end result would bear little resemblance with what the specimen actually once was.
Now I want to see those caricatures!
Juu, tokihan täällä yhä luetaan.
I see they’re even serving radioactive drinks there!
I acknowledge that (and as I said, it hasn’t really caused any issues with the backups), I was just responding to this being ”fixed” (above). If it’s not really an issue in the code, maybe we should close this as invalid? (Although I could argue that the message makes it seem as if there is a problem with the code when in fact there isn’t, so the bug could be ”this warning is slightly misleading”. But that’s up for interpretation.)
I wonder what are the changes of getting pwned on one of those nowadays, with all the known security holes. Could be not even the crooks bother anymore though.
