There’s a usability issue with the login screen’s panel being at the bottom of the screen. It should be at the top, or at the very least the elements that are present in both the login screen and the desktop (the clock and shutdown menu) should be positioned consistently. It’s very confusing as it stands, with the clock and the shutdown function jumping from the bottom of the login screen to the top of the desktop screen when we log in.

Either the top of the screen is the accessibility-wise better place for these elements, in which case they should be there *during the login screen also*, or it isn’t, in which case they shouldn’t be there when we get to the desktop *either*. They shouldn’t be in one place on one screen, in another place on another screen.

Do you know of a way to move the elements around on the login screen? Specifically I’d like to move the bottom panel to the top.

I’ve actually reported this as a bug on Launchpad (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/+bug/524497#) and even tried fiddling with the greeter’s source code myself, but it was just useless guesswork with my non-existent GTK knowledge.

There’s a lens called ”EF-S 18-55mm DC” on the markets now too. Haven’t researched it much so I’m not sure if it’s just one of the previous models rebranded or a new revision. At the very least it appears not to have IS.

The second paragraph of the package description says ”It’s modular concept is intended to provide”. It should say ”Its modular concept is intended to provide”.

I’m attaching a trivial patch, the first one I’ve ever uploaded to Launchpad, just to see if I did it right, and would appreciate any feedback.

Aikaan ennen Pelit-lehteä MB julkaisi silloin tällöin muistaakseni samannimistä (”Pelit 1990” tjsp.) erikoisjulkaisua, joka oli tavallista lehteä paksumpi (ulkomaisten tietokonelehtien kokoinen kanttiselkä), peleihin keskittynyt lehti. Minun rakkaat muistoni liittyvät noihin lehtiin; varsinaisen Pelit-lehden synnyttyä olin jo pitkälti luopunut pelaamisesta.

En muistaakseni kuulu pilkutuksestasi valittaneisiin, ja olinkin siitä tässä luettuani yllättynyt, että joku on löytänyt ilmaisustasi jotain moitittavaa. Mutta oma tietty makunsa kirjoituksillasi on, ja aloin nyt pohtia, olisiko se kenties juuri tuon pilkutuksen vaikutusta, sillä en aiemmin olisi osannut sitä makua minkään tietyn detaljin synnyttämäksi sitoa.

I was surprised not by the anger but by the accompanying apologetics. I think there’s no need to apologize when ranting in a personal blog; indeed, that’s what fuels many personal writers. (I used to be one of them, but it seems I’ve let out most of my steam now and am thus running on empty.)
